About Water Filter Cartridge Micron Ratings

Water filter cartridge micron ratings are determined by the size of the openings in a filter.

Smaller openings represent a smaller carbon filter micron rating and larger openings represent a higher carbon filter micron rating. The smaller the opening/water filter cartridge micron rating, the more a filter will remove from your water.

Our water filters are available in three filtration levels – HSD and 0.2 & 5 water filter cartridge micron ratings.

For filter micron ratings, there are filters available that only filter out particles however the filters in our range filter out particles along with other contaminants ensuring higher water quality.

Using a high-quality filter not only improves the quality of your filtered water, but they usually last longer and provide a more consistent level of filtration.

During the filtration process, filters accumulate organic matter – which can lead to biofilm development.

Whilst the filters in our range have a 30,000-litre capacity (chlorine reduction), we do recommend replacing your cartridges every 12 months to ensure optimal water quality and operation.

Hard Water Filtration Systems

In our systems, we use the highest quality filters for drinking water so they are suitable for use as hard water filtration systems. Our premium filters utilise unique Fibron X® technology created by BWT, Europe’s largest water treatment products company. This technology features a graded density profile ensuring maximum performance and capacity and provides superior drinking water quality and consistent filter life.

Our systems enable you to choose the filtration level that best suits your needs. Our 0.2-micron filter provides the highest level of filtration whilst our 5-micron filter provides a more standard level of filtration. Importantly, if you’re looking for a water filter for hard water, both the 0.2 micron and 5-micron filters enable minerals(e.g. fluoride which promotes better dental health) to flow through the appliance whilst preventing limescale build-up.

Our 5-micron filter provides a more standard option to improve drinking water, removing particles, chlorine and organic chemicals from your water, along with limescale. We do recommend replacing filters in our hard water filtration systems every 12 months to keep your unit running optimally, however some areas and higher usage sites may require filters to be changed more frequently.

If you’re not on a plan you can still book a service online. But being on a plan helps to maintain the quality of your water and reduce downtime of your system. We essentially offer four different care plan options:

  1. The Blue Plan: on this plan you to install the filters yourself within your chosen months (our online how-to videos can help)
  2. The Silver Plan: on this plan, we send a Billi accredited technician to change the filters for you. This plan is set at a fixed rate for the length of your agreement.
  3. The Gold Plan: on this plan, we offer a comprehensive maintenance option set at a flat fee. Both the filter replacements and regular maintenance on the unit is performed by an accredited Billi technician.
