How Do I Know If My Water Filter Is Clogged?
If you’re wondering whether your water filter is clogged, it probably is. If you’re not enjoying the filtered water as much as you used to, take a run through this quick checklist:
- Is the water still flowing as it did when you last changed the filter?
- Does the water smell as fresh/crisp?
- Can you taste chlorine or some other unpleasant flavours?
If you have a potable main supply you can also compare it with the taste of your filtered supply to establish the performance of your filter. If they taste the same it’s probably time for a new filter!
How Long Are Water Filters Good For?
Water filters are considered good according to capacity (ie the amount of water that has been filtered in terms of litres), although Billi filters must be changed every 12 months to ensure optimal performance. Our filters have a maximum 30,000-litre capacity.
If you’ve had your filter for a specific amount of time, and you have a rough idea of your usage then here’s some rough maths to help you along. If you’ve had your current filter for:
- 12-months
- More than 6-months at 160 litres a day or;
- More than 1-month at 970 litres a day means it’s time for a replacement.
