How To Look After Your Water Filtration System

When it comes to how long should a water filter last, we recommend that your cartridge is replaced every 12 months, however, some areas require a higher level of water filtration which means you may need to replace the filter more often – same if you have a high water usage.

The reason you need to replace filters is that they accumulate organic matter during the filtration process that builds up over time (which can lead to biofilm development). Each filter also has a litre capacity and once this is reached the filter needs to be replaced (or if the filter has been in place for 12 months – whichever comes first). All replacement filters for our water filtration systems have a 30,000-litre capacity (chlorine reduction).

Here is what water filter cartridges filter out of your water and why it is important to ensure your filter is working as it should:

• Sediment
• Chemicals (e.g. chlorine)
• Minerals
• Parasitic cysts including cryptosporidium and giardia
• Lead

In addition to filtering out the above, you will also notice the difference when it comes to taste and odour too.
