Soda Water as a Healthy Soft Drink Alternative

Whilst soft drinks are a popular choice, they are often filled with lots of sugar and artificial ingredients making them an unhealthy option. Sugary soft drinks can dramatically increase the risk of obesity and other health conditions such as heart disease, diabetes and liver damage. They can also cause teeth problems, especially for children. If you’re mindful of your family’s health & wellbeing and looking for healthy alternatives to soft drinks, we have some fantastic homemade soft drinks recipes below along with how we make it easy for you to make delicious and healthy cold drinks at home.

Healthier Cold Drinks To Make At Home

Healthier drink options don’t need to be boring. There are many different healthy cold drinks you can make at home and with our water filtration systems that give you instant boiling, chilled, still or sparkling water on tap, we make it easy to create delicious healthy alternatives to soft drinks.

Our healthy alternatives to soft drink ideas include using healthier ingredients such as sparkling water, fruit, herbs and natural syrups:

  • Mocktails (make your favourite cocktail recipe omitting alcohol & artificial flavourings and swapping out sugary mixers with sparkling water / soda water instead)
  • Infused water (crushed fruit and mint is one of our favourites – try with either chilled still or sparkling water)
  • Hot lemon & honey (we recommend adding a bit of ginger for an extra health boost as well)

And of course, good old plain water! Staying hydrated is so important for both our bodies and our minds and many find sparkling water a great alternative to soft drinks. Because we use premium filters in our systems this gives you high-quality water that tastes so much better. And with filtered chilled, still or sparkling water on tap it’s easy to see why so many of our customers say their household’s water intake increases.

Homemade Soft Drinks Recipes

Three of our favourite homemade soft drinks recipes:

  1. Choose your favourite fruit (e.g. berries, melon, citrus) and either crush, blend or boil & reduce down to create a syrup. Fill about a quarter to a third of a glass with your fruit syrup then add honey to sweeten. Top up with sparkling water and garnish for the finishing touch. Healthy & delicious!
  2. Juice 5 fresh lemons then add the juice to a blender with a third of a cup of honey. Blend until smooth. Put the blended mix into a jug, and add ice and four cups of sparkling water for a tasty, healthy homemade lemonade.
  3. Simmer ½ cup of honey, ½ cup of peeled & sliced fresh ginger and ½ cup of water in a saucepan over medium heat for about 15 minutes. Once cooled, strain the liquid then add it to a jug. Add ice, and some fresh mint and top up with 4 cups of sparkling water for a refreshing homemade and super healthy ginger ale.
