Drinking enough water is essential for ensuring our bodies perform as they need to – every cell in the human body relies on water to function properly. But, many of us struggle to drink our daily recommended water intake. Having handy tips on how to drink more water can help to increase the amount of water you drink and also make it more pleasurable too. Our Top Three Tips To Drink More Water

Whilst there are general guidelines in terms of recommendations on how much water you need to drink, this will vary from person to person as there are multiple factors that need to be taken into consideration such as the weather, how physically active you are and your health.

One of the best ways to determine your hydration levels is to check your urine (and also note how frequently you’re urinating). Your urine should be a pale yellow colour. If your urine is colourless you could be overhydrated, if it’s dark, you need to drink more. However, many people struggle to meet their daily recommended intake and are simply not drinking enough. This can come down to ease of access to water, not enjoying the taste, lack of time and other reasons.

What are some ways to drink more water?

    1. Start the day with a big drink of water. This not only helps to replace fluid lost during sleep but sets you up for healthy habits and a day of staying hydrated. Start as you mean to go on!
    2. Create daily water rituals. Find ways to drink more water throughout the day by setting yourself little goals. For example,  every time you complete a task, drink some water. Pausing to take a break? have a glass of water in your hand. Every time you go into the kitchen, fill up your glass so you always have water on hand.
    3. Make drinking water more enticing and easily accessible. If you don’t enjoy the taste of water, this can make it much harder to get your daily intake.
